Small pools: the perfect solution for saving on water, lighting and energy

The main advantages to choosing a small pool to minimise costs, save water and energy, and escape the intense heat this summer.

Small pools are becoming increasingly popular. And behind this trend are some very convincing arguments.

Small Pools

A small pool can be considered as being no more than 5-6 metres long and 3-4 metres wide. Our range of models includes various small pools, such as: Unique 4, Smart Lane, Tweet and the entire Clever range.

With the increasingly higher temperatures each summer, what we really want is to be able to cool off, either alone or in company.

However, small pools have more benefits than just providing a way to cool off.

But a small pool offers much more than just refreshment.

With small pools like our Clever and Smart Lane, which hold under 10 m3 of water, you use 12,900 litres less water than you would with a standard pool of 8 x 4.5 metres.

Proper maintenance of the pool

Proper maintenance of the pool water is extremely important, since water costs are not only incurred at the time of filling the pool. If the polyester monoblock pool is maintained regularly and diligently, the pool water can last up to six years.

With the high temperatures and sun in summer, some of the water in the pool is going to evaporate. However, if the pool is small, the surface area touched by the sun is smaller than that of a standard or large pool. Therefore, the amount of water evaporation in a small pool could be up to 1 m3 a month while in a standard pool this could be 4-5 m3 a month.

In terms of lighting costs -because there’s nothing like a nighttime dip and an attractively-lit garden in summer- a small pool requires only one light, whereas a standard or large pool needs a minimum of 2-3 lights.

And if you want to extend the pool season? A small pool holds fewer litres of water and therefore takes less time to heat up or cool down, which equates to considerable energy savings over a standard or large pool.

In summer, to keep the pool water cool and to minimise evaporation, one solution is to use a pool cover.

So, as we have mentioned, there are many advantages to having a small pool. You can enjoy a refreshing dip in just 10 m3 of water.
