Prefabricated or built swimming pool, which is more economical?
There is a significant price difference between the two.
Prices of prefabricated swimming pools
Currently, the purchase price of a concrete swimming pool is much higher than that of a polyester swimming pool, the difference can vary between 15% and 25%. Prefabricated swimming pools therefore remain more affordable today.
Apart from the purchase price, other factors must also be taken into account to help you in your choice.
Installation time
Building a concrete swimming pool takes much longer than installing a polyester model. In fact, the work lasts at least three months, not counting the time to obtain a building permit. Installing a one-piece pool, on the other hand, is much faster, although authorization is also required. In just three or four days, your Mon de Pra monobloc swimming pool can be installed in your garden, provided conditions permit.
Maintenance costs for each type of pool
Having a swimming pool at home requires specific maintenance to avoid problems over the years. If we take into account maintenance costs over a ten-year period, we see a big difference. Construction pools are more rigid than prefabricated polyester or fiberglass pools, which are much more flexible. In the event of seismic movement, this greater flexibility prevents cracks, a feature that construction swimming pools do not benefit from.
The maintenance costs of a polyester model are also lower: the use of chemicals is in fact less, and the energy consumption lower. Another more advantageous aspect: cleaning the swimming pool. A construction pool requires more thorough and more expensive cleaning. To build a concrete swimming pool, you use stones or an assembly of tiles (an azulejo), which involves a greater quantity of chemicals and more maintenance. On the other hand, our polyester swimming pools have a smooth surface that prevents algae from adhering to the walls, making them considerably easier to clean.
Are one-piece pools more affordable than construction ones?
If we take into consideration the purchase price and future costs of each type of pool, polyester models have many advantages. You are in fact buying a quality swimming pool, reliable and more economical than a construction swimming pool. Additionally, if you tire of the color of your one-piece pool, you can repaint it and give it a new look to continue enjoying it in just two or three days. A construction pool, on the other hand, has a considerably higher cost and requires a much longer installation time.
Price is just one aspect among many to take into account. You also need to think about dimensions, shape, color, location, among others. We can nevertheless say that by choosing a high-end swimming pool among the models of our Ceramic de Luxe brand, for example the Levitter, with its Gravity finish in porcelain stoneware and Rodonita color, the amount would be similar or equivalent to that of a smaller and lower quality swimming pool.
